This was supposed to be my June Rubber Onion Battle entry post, but guess what! I hate the one I finished yesterday. There are a great many things wrong with it, but the most noticeable one is that there’s next to no animation in it. I actually thought I was being clever, but as I stared onto the monstrosity I created I realized it was just bad, really really bad. Fortunately, as I was about to fall asleep I came up with a much better idea. I’m not sure I’ll be able to finish it in time, but as of today, I’m actually pretty optimistic.
Since today’s #Mermay prompt is “baby-maid” (which I guess means a mer-baby? unless this should be about baby labour O.o) I decided to cheat and combine it with my weekly comic, resulting in this somewhat weird filler page:
I’ve not seen any tortoises or chameleons out and about in a long time, so it was nice spotting one the other day. I snapped a few photos as Eli gently petted her, and then I helped the impatient reptile through the bars of the fence she was unsuccessfully trying to climb. The tortoise looked to be in a great hurry to get somewhere important (probably as far away from us as possible) so I did my best not to delay her.
I wonder how Eli would react to a chameleon. She suddenly started being scared of bugs, running away and trying to climb into my arms whenever we see a fly. She did bring me a dead beetle in her tiny hands yesterday, though she probably didn’t realize what it was.
It looks like I won’t finish this month’s Rubber Onion Battle on time. I’m going to try and stay up animating at night today, but lack of any free time and proper night’s sleep haven’t been nice to me this past week. There’s one more day still, and I’m curious to see how far I can get.
So my first ever stream happened!
It was really fun, and I was surprised at how far I got in the animation. I did have to fiddle around with my camera for a bit at the start, but I did get things working eventually. I was surprised at the amount of people that dropped by, it is much nicer to be streaming if there’s at least another person watching, as opposed to talking to oneself in a dark room. I’ll be continuing the rest of the animation offstream now, hoping to finish it in an hour or two. And really hoping I’ll be able to edit it into something that at least sort of works, my expectations are super low at the moment 😛
So I have good news and bad news.
