Boonka: Prepping for Video

Great Happiness! I finally got things set up!

Tripod setup

What I like most about the tripod is that it fits onto my desk, and the little latch thingy on the head that helps screw it onto my camera (no idea what the actual scientific terms are, to my shame). My old one doesn’t have that “screw assistant”, so in order to attach and detach it without breaking all my nails, I have to use a screwdriver or something similarly shaped.

Tripod setup

I’m now all set to shoot the making of sculpting Boonka this weekend, I hope. I might discover that I’m missing some super vital part, and unable to attain it during the Shabbat (hello closed everything!), but as far as the test video went, it looks pretty good.

Here are all the things included in my current setup:

Nikon D55
Nikkor 18-105mm 1:3.5-5.6GYongnuo WJ-60 Led Lights
Velbon QHD-43D (Tripod Head)
Manfrotto 055  (Tripod)

    • Ah yes, I got the biggest desk I could, to fit both keyboard and the wacom tablet and have room left for a plate 😀

The book is “The Art of DISCWORLD (Terry Pratchett)” by Paul Kidby. I love Pratchett’s books, and Kidby is one of my favourite illustrators 🙂

  • Wow! In awe of your tecnology – I’m proud of myself when I manage to take a half-way decent photo with the camera on the automatic setting!

    • To be honest, I’m way more comfortable with things like masking tape and boxes/books piled on top of each other, but it seemed that to achieve what I wanted I needed to get something a little more serious 😛
